Beware Yon Dragons

rejecting idols

There is a protestant church that I drive by every once in a while that has an interesting phenomenon. In front of the building there is a replica of the statue of liberty (probably about 6 feet tall). I am very curious about this. That particular protestant tradition is vehemently against any kind of worship of idols so they openly condemn the Catholic practice of having statues of the Lord and the Saints in and around the church. I presume that there are no statues of the Lord or the Saints anywhere on their grounds, and yet they are comfortable with the statue of liberty. What does that say to allow a political statue, but not a religious one at a place of worship? Am I missing something here?
