The Catholic Church is the most progressive organization in all of creation. Now that might have made you frown when you read it, but it is absolutely true. The issue, of course, is how you define progressive. If for you, progressive means leaving behind anything old and moving towards newer things, then that is not the same as my definition. If you mean, by progressive, avoiding things that are outdated and seeking things are more modern, that is also different. My definition of progressive is moving toward improvement or advancement. Thus, someone who is a liberal or modernist (or both) will see sodomy, divorce, and socialism as progressive. Since those things are central to the destruction of a society, I would disagree with that label. Those three things (and a host of others) would better be termed degressive . They are backward, and a clear rejection of the advancement of holiness and righteousness. The idea that new is always better than old (per modernism) is not moving toward any kind of genuine improvement since improvement presumes better and not newer (sometimes older things are actually better than newer things). It irks me to realize that anti-christians have stolen the term progressive and use it to try to put a nice spin on their evil, and also to insult those who believe that truth and morality do not change. Someday I expect people to figure this out, and stop calling wickedness progressive and start calling it something more accurate; like sin.
