In America (and I suppose in other countries as well), we are enamored with professionalism. If someone is supposed to be an expert on a subject, many people shut down their critical thinking and follow like sheep whatever that person says (take the COVID-1984 governmental controls for example). I am not encouraging rebellion, but merely caution on who claims to be an expert or authority on a certain subject. Only the Church can claim divine inspiration and perfection in what she says (and that only in certain instances). Anything else must be received much more carefully. A wonderful quote by G.K. Chesterton is appropriate here: Without education, we are in a horrible and deadly danger of taking educated people seriously.
