Beware Yon Dragons

providence

Sept. 13, 2025, midnight

God's providence is sometimes so amazing that it is hard to believe. He works things in our lives, and coordinates various parts of our experience to show that He is with us, and that He is fully aware of what we are going through. This should not be chalked up to coincidence as though it is all an accident and that God is just sitting up in Heaven ignoring us. Take for example what the readings were for Mass a couple days ago. On September 11th, the assigned readings for the Thursday of the Trinity 12 (called in the local diocese Ordinary time, week 23) were about forgiving those who offend us, and loving our enemies even when they persecute us. What could be more fitting on the day after the murder of a well known conservative that helped many people see the truth better, as well as on the very day that we remember the muslim attacks on our nation 24 years ago? These things happen in connection with each other because God is speaking to us. In some ways, those two events are much alike, even though thousands died 24 years ago, and only one died in the attack this last Wednesday. They are both a testimony to the hatred that the world has for tradition and truth. The murder of Charlie Kirk is also a clear sign that modernists are getting desperate. They realize we are winning the argument and gaining civil power, and so they resort to murder; like a rat in a corner. God's providence speaks to us in the midst of this though. He says, I am here, and I know what you are going through. He planned that those would be the readings to tell us how to respond. It is easy to become fearful, or angry, but He calls us to live the life of forgiveness and love for enemies. Let us remember at times like this, who we are, and what we are called to. Forgive others as Christ forgave you.
